FAQs

What can I do there?

Hike, birdwatch, photography, nature study, relax and enjoy nature.  Although nature preserves are meant for the plants and animals that live there, people can enjoy them too.  Please  remember, it is not a park set up for people and respect what the living things that call it home.

Where do I hike?

Start at the gravel parking lot.  At Amboy Marsh, walk down the driveway to the kiosk to find a map, or wander the preserve following the colored trail markers.  At Gremel, walk down the path to the woods, then either turn right on the path or continue straight.  Both eventually lead to the Main Pond.  From there, continue around a loop trail through a pine woods.  Maps for both preserves are available on this website under the "visits" tab.

Can I bring my dog?

Dogs are not allowed.  Not even on a leash.  They may disturb plants and animals that live here, and they may also get into plants that will hurt them.  We love dogs too, but want them - and the animals here - to all be safe.  Thank you!

Can I drive into the preserve?

The driveway is for use by authorized vehicles only.  Please do not drive past the gravel parking lot, even if the gate is open.  Thank you!

Does the preserve get tax money to operate?

The preserves operate on donations large and small and through grant money.  No tax money supports either preserve.
