Trails at Amboy Marsh

1701 Morman Rd.,Amboy, IL

You can hike a small loop or go for a longer trip using several trails.  There are sand paths, forest, and grass surfaces.  You may see deer, sand hill cranes, turtles, many birds, dragonflies and many varieties of native plants.  Because this is sensitive habitat, no dogs are allowed, not even on a leash.

White Trail - The longest trail at the marsh will take you past three ponds, then Big Marsh and Willow Wetland.

Orange Trail - Hike through Derr Field, full of prairie flowers, butterflies and dragonflies in three seasons.  Continue on to Woodpecker Woods, a favorite hangout for re-headed woodpeckers.  The trail loops to return on either Orange or White trail.

Yellow Trail - This trail passes Hatch Pond, making its way through forests and meadows to overlook Big Marsh.  Both Blue and Red trails connect this trail to the White Trail.

Blue and Red Connector Trails - These trail options connect the Yellow Trail to the White Trail.
