Isaac Stewart, Black Hawk East College, once again documented the federally-endangered Rusty-patched bumble bee at Gremel. It was near the parking lot where we removed 9,000 red pines and it is reverting, on its own, to prairie. The bee was on purple vervain. Pretty GREAT news! Isaac felt this was especially encouraging since it meant the queen had overwintered successfully in that area.
